Amy Barter

EPE Manager

Amy Barter is one of the Education and Public Engagement Managers for the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics at Dublin City University. She is passionate about making STEM education accessible and engaging, fostering meaningful connections between researchers and the public.

With a background in astrophysics and experience in science communication, Amy has worked on a wide range of public engagement initiatives, from school outreach programs to large-scale science events such as Dublin Maker and Pint of Science Ireland. She is also a volunteer on the Pint of Science Ireland Podcast team, helping bring conversations about cutting-edge research to a wider audience.

Amy’s work spans creative and interactive STEM engagement, including writing the script for the graphic novel Harmonic, which blends science with storytelling. She has also been involved in exhibit development, such as the EIRSAT-1 exhibit in the Explorium National Sport and Science Centre, showcasing Ireland’s first satellite and inspiring future generations of scientists and engineers.

She previously gained communications experience at EUSPA (European Union Agency for the Space Programme), where she contributed to public outreach initiatives on space and satellite technology. Additionally, Amy is the founder of MOPSI (Meeting of Physics Societies Ireland), an initiative that brings together third level physics communities across Ireland to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
