Professor Alan Smeaton spoke to Marie Boran from The Irish Times about the phenomenon of deepfakes. In the article Smeaton discusses the work being done in Insight@DCU generating and understanding deepfakes in an effort to detect them. Insight researchers are using a technique called order magnification in order to detect these deepfakes. Order magnification looks at pixel level changes in skin colour, undetectable to the human eye. You can read the full article here.
