The Irish Collegiate Programming Contest is Ireland’s most prestigious computer programming competition. The event attracts the best programmers from third-level institutions across the country, with occasional entrants from international colleges such as Oxford and Nice. Each competing team is given a set of challenging problems that test their collective problem solving, numeracy and computer programming skills. This competition is not for the novice programmer but those who have a passion for programming.
In a wider context, the IrlCPC competition helps students to hone their practical programming skills, which will better prepare them for career opportunities in the industry. It also showcases the level of interest, commitment and talent that exists in computer programming in Ireland and beyond.
This year there will also been a junior track event on the same day for second level students. The winners of the junior track programme (must be under 20 years of age on July 1st) will go forward to represent Ireland (Team Ireland) at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI 2023) and the International Programming Olympiad (IOI 2023). EGOI 2023 takes place 15 – 21 July 2023 in Lund Sweden and IOI 2023 will be held in Szeged, Hungary from 28 August to 4 September 2023.
