Dr Talha Iqbal is a Postdoctoral researcher within Computer Vision and eXplainable AI Group of Dr Ihsan Ullah at the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, University of Galway, Ireland. He completed his PhD from Smart Sensors Lab at University of Galway, focusing on signal processing and machine learning algorithms for stress monitoring with wearable sensors. Talha’s Research interests is centered on the development of traditional AI as well as generative AI techniques for the classification, detection, segmentation and synthetic data generation of cardiovascular diseases within the medical domain, with a strong emphasis on privacy protection, model interoperability, and data-sharing approaches. During his PhD, Talha has been involved in various other research projects and volunteer
positions, including data quality engineer at CORRIB Core Lab, Lead machine learning engineer at Symphysis Medical, and Project Engineer at Galway VentShare. He was a recipient of the COMSATS full-time Scholarship (A+ category) (2017/2018), the
QCRI/Boeing Travel Grant, Qatar, in 2018, the Top-10 APPRC Award (2017/2018), Australia, and the Scholarship under SFI Professorship Award, Ireland, in 2019.
