Commercialisation
Insight, in partnership with the universities’ Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs), has an impressive record of commercialisation its research; both licensing of intellectual property and nurturing spin-out companies. Twelve per cent of all licences across all domains and research institutes across Ireland come through Insight.
Depending on the field of expertise and the type of research you are interested in, the commercial potential of the research outputs will take different forms, from products, platform technologies and service provision to licensing of existing companies and the establishment of spin-out companies.
Opportunities for Industry
There are many ways that businesses can get involved. Whether you are interested in partnering your market knowledge with an academic in a spin-in company, or want to get involved as an investor in a research start up, please contact us at business@insight-centre.org
We can also facilitate Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Funds.
Our most recent spin-out is Output Sports, which is revolutionising the way athletic staff optimise sports performance using advanced signal processing and machine learning techniques. The company has developed an end-to-end solution that can test multiple components of athletic performance and track training programmes with a single wearable sensor. For the first time ever, a wearable for exercise analysis will provide strength coaches, rehab professionals and athletes with valid, reliable and comprehensive analysis in a single, user-centric, fully integrated system.
Past spin-out companies include Aficionado Technologies, Ambisense, Rempad, Derilinx, Sedicii and XtremePush. Read more below:
