E-scooter users often ride on the sidewalk because of poor road infrastructure according to a recent study published in Forbes.
The study, by Dutch e-scooter rental company Dott, was conducted using cameras equipped with AI technology fitted on Dott e-scooters. The cameras, which were built by Irish start-up Luna Systems, monitored how and where the e-scooters were being used, collecting data from more than 3,000 trips over 3,700 miles.
Luna AI computer vision was created and developed in DCU Alpha in partnership with Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, and tested in Smart DCU.
