On the 28th September Insight DCU was delighted to welcome Prof Eugenijus Valatka, Rector of Kaunus University of Technology (KTU). Kieran Mahon, Smart DCU Projects Facilitator, gave a presentation on the Smart Dublin and Smart DCU projects. Demonstrating the pioneering work DCU and KTU are doing in the area of Digital Twins. Combining the civil engineering expertise of KTU and Data Analytics capabilities of Insight at DCU to push the boundaries of Digital Twins to a new dimension. Digital Twins can be used to help improve quality of life, city services, local governance, mobility and environmental conditions.
Dr Jaime B. Fernandez, Insight Researcher, spent two weeks at Kaunus University of Technology (KTU) earlier this month as part of an ECIU Researcher Mobility Fund. While there Dr Fernandez met with the KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture team led by Dr. Andrius Jurelionis, Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Dr. Darius Pupeikis, Head of the Centre for Smart Cities and Infrastructure (CSCI) in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
The Smart DCU Digital Twin project, which commenced in 2021, is a collaboration between Bentley Systems, DCC and KTU. The KTU team are the project experts in the area of Civil Engineering and Architecture, sharing their experience and knowledge in Drone Surveying, creation and management of 3D Models helping to accelerate the development of the Smart DCU Digital Twin.
