A study from Insight researchers Dr Aoife Morrin and Prof Alan Smeaton on the impact of 3D printing on air quality has kicked off a discussion in the 3D printing community about how to ensure safer home use of the technology.
The research, published in the MDPI journal ‘Sensors’ last year, examined the effect of 3D printing on air quality and found that use of the printers without adequate ventilation could damage users’ health. Given the growing popularity of home printers, the information has been noted in the 3D printing community and prompted the following article in ‘3D Natives’: Could 3D Printing at Home be Detrimental to Health?
