Insight’s Niall Ó Brolcháin has been awarded a Fáilte Ireland Conference Ambassador award for his work with Fáilte Ireland as part of the organizing committee of the 11th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV2018) which took place in Galway in April 2018.
Niall worked with Insight’s eGov unit based at the University of Galway to organize this very prestigious event. The conference was organized under the patronage of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, Government of Ireland, and was co-organized by the University of Galway, the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, and UNU-EGOV, the latter as the coordinator of the ICEGOV series.
The conference theme of ICEGOV2018 was Transforming Digital Governance for Sustainable and Resilient Societies. Following the Call for Papers, 180 papers were submitted, out of which 116 were accepted for presentation and publication split across 18 Paper Sessions. Together with this, the conference programme also featured keynote lectures, plenary discussions, invited sessions, a poster exhibition, and a full day dedicated to workshops and the doctoral colloquium. The conference was brought to Galway by Adegboyega Ojo who was the eGov unit leader in Insight at the time.
Fáilte Ireland celebrated the outstanding contributions of 104 conference ambassadors, including renowned academics and industry leaders, at an award ceremony in Dublin in November. Fáilte Ireland’s Conference Ambassador Programme was developed to support individuals who want to host an international conference in Ireland. The programme provides assistance and financial support at every stage of the event, from the initial bidding, through to the marketing and promotion of the event.
