Georgios Petropoulos is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Galway involved in the “Critical Thinking in Communities of Inquiry” research project. This project uses the Community of Philosophical Inquiry framework to explore attitudes of data scientists and AI professionals toward the ethical and societal dimensions of data science and artificial intelligence. The project also aims at researching new ways of fostering constructive dialogue between the general public and scientists at the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics. Georgios Petropoulos has many years of experience of facilitating and researching Communities of Philosophical Inquiry with diverse groups of people. His broader research interests include public philosophy, philosophy of education (with an emphasis on interactive and dialogic pedagogies), phenomenology (classical, applied, and critical), and ancient philosophy. Prior to joining the University of Galway, he was a lecturer at Newcastle University, a teaching fellow at University College Dublin, and a research fellow at the UCD Centre for Ethics in Public Life.
