Maria Smyth took up the position of EU Grant Coordinator for Insight – NUI Galway in Dec 2014, with responsibility for the coordination of European grants. She also holds the role of Site Grant Manager (50%) and has been working on EU project management and administration in DERI since 2004. She has administrative and financial management experience on 9 EC FP7 projects with NUIG as coordinator (MONNET, SPITFIRE, OpenIoT, SIFEM, VITAL, WATERNOMICS, LATC, NET2 MC IRSES, Puzzled By Policy CIP) and a further 26 other FP7 projects where Insight NUI Galway were partners in the consortium. She has been responsible for back office support at all stages of the project lifecycle from proposal submission, negotiation, implementation to completion. She has dealt with EU and all other funding agencies (SFI, EI, IRCSET) in project acquisition and implementation for the over 15 years.
