This year marks 40 years since the launch of the EU’s first funding programme dedicated to science, research and innovation. The Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (European Commission) has published a booklet featuring a symbolic 40 stories to illustrate the breadth of R&I made possible through EU R&I funding and some of the results achieved over the last 40 years. It covers industrial innovation, health, transport, energy, society, the environment, food, digitalisation, international cooperation, security, and space.

The booklet features Traction, an EU collaborative project that aims to provide a bridge between opera professionals and specific communities at risk of exclusion. As part of the project consortium the Insight @DCU team lead, by Professor Gabriel-Miro Muntean, developed algorithms to give the best playback experience for the Cocreation Stage, a tool that allows multiple stages to perform opera together.
