‘The Science of Better’ is an Operations Research industry event kindly supported by Dell Technologies.
Global supply chain and logistics challenges have been prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic. While there have been signs of an easing of many supply disruptions, other evolving global factors and geopolitics are causing new risks and stressors for the globalised economy.
The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics invites you to an industry-focused event showcasing solutions that address some of these challenges. We will focus on Operations Research, often referred to as “the science of better”, that has been used for decades to optimise areas such as:
The target audience is key decision-makers in companies focused on logistics, retail, manufacturing, transport, engineering, energy, etc. A key objective of the event is to develop a platform for collaboration amongst companies working in these areas. As part of the event we will host a “world café”-style session to co-curate with participants an outline of a strategic research agenda that could form the basis of a large-scale research initiative in the field of/or, addressing challenges in these areas.
The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics has a variety of co-funding and collaboration mechanisms at its disposal to help deliver on this research agenda.
The event will be chaired by Professor Barry O’Sullivan with contributions from industry practitioners and research scientists working on the application of optimisation methods to large-scale industrial problems. Our industry keynote will be by the Vice President for Fulfilment & Logistics within Dell Technologies, Sean O’Reilly.
The “Science of Better’ event will take place on Thursday November 10th at the River Lee Hotel, Western Road, Cork City, T12 X2AH.
