Dian Zhang graduated from Dublin City University with a B.Eng in Digital Media Engineering in 2009. After completion of his undergraduate study, he was employed as a research assistant by CLARITY: Centre for Sensor Web Technologies (http://www.clarity-centre.org/), at DCU. During the time, he was involved in development for the InSPeCT (Integrated Surveillance for Port Container Traffic) system. The project won Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Award which presented by Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Conor Lenihan, TD at The Big Ideas Showcase (http://www.sfi.ie/news-resources/press-releases/clarity-and-fairview-analytics-win-enterprise-ireland-commercialization-award.html). Shortly after, he was appointed as the lead developer of the IABA (Irish Amateur Boxing Association) Boxing Training Analysis Project, which won 2012 INVENT Commercialisation Awards and successfully licensed to Audio Visual Services Ltd.
Dian Zhang graduated with a PhD from Dublin City University in 2015 as a member of Professor Noel E. O'Connor and Professor Fiona Regan’s research group where he developed a multi-modal smart sensing framework for marine environmental monitoring. He is currently working as a Post Doctoral Researcher at Insight and Mestech research centre.
